Oyo Contemporary Sitting Chairs from Aeris

A geometric, curved-back chair that looks skeptical-worthy in a photo and turns out to actually support the spine.

Finding contemporary sitting chairs is no small task. The Oyo chair from Aeris is a great concept that dares to challenge our spatial understanding of design.

Construction is meticulous and follows all industry standards of quality and safety. It's built on a double tubular steel frame for added support, able to handle a heavy load while offering long-term durability. Comfort matters too — there's 5 centimetres of foam padding, and the reinforced plastic shell is built to last through prolonged periods of sitting, which makes it a genuinely workable desk companion.

Examples inside homes

In a dining setting with orange hanging lighting, the orange plays well against lighter wood — a small, fun splash of colour that lifts the whole room, and one that would still work with a more conservative palette.

In a study nook, lime-green upholstery against white walls and wood-trimmed windows gives the room some colour without washing everything out.

The curve on the seat back looks skeptical-worthy at first glance — but it turns out to offer more of a geometric accent while the overall design still supports the spine properly. The legs have non-skid pads to prevent the chair moving and protect the flooring underneath.

In a neutral grey tone, the chair reads more conservative — a look that fits into nearly any home — and paired with a statement animal-hide rug and a fireplace backdrop, the room warms up nicely. The chairs also move around easily, which gives a homeowner real flexibility in how a room gets used.
